If you’re looking at getting a dough whisk, you’re probably looking for something that has a bigger handle to make mixing dough ingredients easier on wrists and hands, and has less surface area than a spoon for dough to stick to, so cleaning is easier. This dough whisk does both, and considering that (despite owning a kitchen mixer) I mix almost all of my breads by hand (typically the lean French style of loaves) this whisk has made my life considerably easier. The wire is FAR more rigid than your average balloon whisk, (a common concern for people who haven’t used one of these) and is very easy to clean. That said…. I would love a dishwasher safe handle.. something both sealed and plastic/stainless steel… since the wood isn’t dishwasher safe. Where the wires loop over themselves or come close to other wire, it can be a little tricky to clean dough residue if you don’t clean right away. As such, I STRONGLY encourage you clean as you go, (as any baker would know). I tend to make dough in 1-4Kg batches, so I’d love an even bigger/longer handle. However, if you’re making loaves less than 1.5Kg large, then this works pretty well. Since I knew the handle was wood when I bought it, and it has held up very well, despite my preferences, I’d like to give it 4.5 stars, but this site won’t let me.
